OBS May Getaway 2008

sunsetThe OBS May Getaway is May 9, 10 and 11 at Red Oak Campground in Okmulgee State Park. Drive to the park and camp on Friday night or meet us at Red Oak Campground Saturday morning. Just keep a lookout for the OBS banner and a green Legs flag and a lot of people smartly dressed in OBS jerseys. Tent sites are $8.00 with a maximum of two tents per site. Showers are available.

8:30 a.m. is the start time to ride to Henryetta for brunch on Saturday morning. This is a hilly route but very scenic. This ride is approximately 52 miles, with a couple of alternate longer and shorter options. The World Famous OBS Potluck Dinner will be Saturday evening. If camping is not your thing, the town of Okmulgee is just 5 miles east of the campground.

Wondering what you can bring for the potluck dinner? Don’t forget to bring your own plates, utensils and drinking cups. Things like salads, rolls, desserts, casseroles, Dutch oven dinners, and chips are all good ideas.

Sunday morning there will be ride somewhere for breakfast at a time determined by the participants.

If you have any questions, call Jim Allshouse at 721-8317 or jim0740@cox.net.

Directions: Take I-40 East to Hwy 56 North near Okemah (exit 221). As Hwy 56 circles around the north end of Okmulgee lake, look for signs directing you to the Okmulgee State Park campgrounds on the east side of the lake.
