Oklahoma River Trail 2009 Closures and Detour
As of May 23, 2009, the north side trail is closed west of Pennsylvania Ave. due to construction on the new alignment of I-40. The south side trail is also closed at Exchange Ave where they are replacing a bridge. We do not know at this time how long either of these closures will last, but we anticipate at least several months.
There is no convenient detour for the north side trail, but for riders travelling east to west on the south side, it is recommended you cross over to the south side at Robinson Ave. Then follow the directions below for the detour.
South side trail detour: Exit the trail at Exchange Ave. Follow Exchange thru Stockyard City to Agnew. Turn north (right) on Agnew. Just before the bridge on Agnew, there is a parking lot on the east (right) side of the road. From that parking lot, you may reenter the trail. Total distance on the streets is about 2.3 miles. If traveling west to east, reverse these directions.
Exchange and Agnew can be very busy during weekday rush hours, but are relatively quite on weekends. However, as on any roadway shared with automobiles, cyclists should use extreme caution and obey traffic laws. Use your own best judgment as to whether travel on city streets is appropriate for your cycling skill level.
